What fines or fees will I incur for late or damaged items?

How do I appeal a fine or fee?

You may appeal library fines or charges for late, lost, or damaged materials if you believe the charges have been mistakenly assessed or that extenuating circumstances warrant reduction or cancellation. To prevent interest from accruing, appeal library fines or charges within 30 calendar days of the original billing. You will receive a response to any appeal within 1 week.

How can I request online library access?

If you are a currently registered student or an employee of the university, your ONID account will give you access to online library resources such as databases, articles and e-books.

Not all ONID users have this access. To check to see if you or another ONID user should have access, see the Library Electronic Services Matrix

ONID holders with a need for online library services can request access. Please be aware that requesting access does not equal granting access.

Can visiting scholars and faculty borrow or access OSU Libraries’ resources?

If your visiting appointment is with Courtesy* status:

  • you can borrow physical materials
  • you have proxied access to online resources
  • you have access to interlibrary loan services

If your visiting appointment is with Associate* status:

Visiting scholars/faculty who don’t fit in the two categories noted above may still qualify for a community patron account while living in Oregon.

*PLEASE NOTE, the OSU Libraries does not assign status type. Check with your home department or University Human Resources for status questions.
