For the most complete access to the full resources of OSU Libraries, visiting faculty need:

  • An ONID (OSU Network IDentification)
    • An ONID account will allow you to access the campus wireless network and online library resources.
    • OSU Libraries does not grant ONID accounts. You must work with your sponsoring department to arrange for an ONID account.
  • An OSU identification card or, alternately, an OSU Libraries convenience card
    • An OSU identification card or an OSU Libraries convenience card will allow you to borrow library materials.
    • OSU Libraries does grant OSU Libraries convenience cards. You can print the form at this link: http://osulibrary.oregonstate.edu/files/Visit.pdf
    • OSU Libraries does not grant OSU identification cards. You must work with your sponsoring department to arrange for an OSU identification card.
  • An Interlibrary Loan (ILL) account
    • An ILL account allows you to acquire materials that OSU Libraries either does not subscribe to or does not own.
    • An ONID account is required to set up an ILL account (see Item 1 above)
    • Set up an ILL account: https://osulibrary.oregonstate.edu/ill/registration

If your department does not arrange an ONID account for you:

  • You can access nearly all of OSU Libraries’ subscription online resources using computers in the Valley Library and Guin Library (not at Cascades Library). A computer guest pass may be required and time limits may apply (e.g. Valley Library on Corvallis campus).
  • You can use materials from the OSU Libraries collection in the library (you may not take them out of the library without an OSU Libraries convenience card or OSU identification card). To apply for an OSU Libraries convenience card, see Item 2 b) above.
  • You may access the Visitor Wireless network (https://beav.es/JqT, requires sign in every 4 hours) or use the Eduroam network if your home institution participates (http://oregonstate.edu/helpdocs/network/wireless/eduroam-wireless). You may not access OSU Libraries online subscription resources using the Visitor Wireless network or the Eduroam network.
