Oregon State University Libraries offers free access to most on-site resources at The Valley Library in Corvallis, at the Guin Library at Hatfield Marine Science Center in Newport, and at the OSU-Cascades Library in Bend.
With your OSU Library Card, you may have:
Please note: Access to most online resources is restricted to current faculty, staff and students. You will have limited access to some databases while using our computers on-site. See Databases available to everyone for more information.
Cardholders are not eligible for interlibrary loan or Summit services.
You can get a card if you fit the following requirements:
Log in to your library account
You may view and renew your items through your Library Account.
Username = your card # (located on the back right of the card)
Password (first time login) = your last name (first letter capitalized) and the last 4 digits of your card number. If your last name is 3 characters or less, add more digits from your ID number until you reach 8 characters.
Request items
Sign into your account, then browse 1Search. You can request OSU-owned items for pick up at your preferred campus.
Check out items
Bring your card to the front desk to pick up items on hold, or check out materials from our library.
Return items
You can return items at any of the three OSU Libraries locations, regardless of where you checked them out.
What is an acceptable form of photo ID?
We accept driver’s licenses and state ID cards, student IDs, passports, and tribal identification cards. If none of these options are available to you, please contact us for assistance.
What if I only want to use your computers?
A library card isn’t required. Ask for login help at the front desk. Please note public access computer terminals are only available at The Valley Library (Corvallis) and the Guin Library (Newport).
I’m late! How much do I owe?
OSU Libraries no longer charges overdue fines for our items. If the item isn’t returned, we will consider it lost and charge a replacement fee. See here for details.
The Oregon Library Passport Program allows cardholders of participating Oregon libraries to borrow materials and use digital resources at other participating libraries. It is a joint effort by the Oregon State Library and Oregon State University Libraries. For a list of participating libraries and more information, go to Oregon Library Passport Program.
If you are a student, faculty or staff at an institution affiliated with Orbis Cascade Alliance, you may also be able to receive Summit borrowing privileges.
Fill out the Library Card Application linked above
Once your account is created, you will be able to request materials through the Summit program to be delivered to OSU for pick-up.
