Collections make up a large part of what the library is. Maintaining a contemporary collection requires looking to the future and purchasing the latest texts in specific fields. OSU Libraries is able to accomplish this thanks to the generous donations of people like:
Dr. and Mrs. George H. Arscott
Their gift supports a yearly subscription to the database of Birds of North America through Cornell University.Search for Birds of Cornell University to find their webpage. On average, this database sees about 4,000 uses per year. Without Arscott funding, we would not be able to maintain access to this well used resource.
Mr. Richard E. Towey
The Towey gift for nutrition and food sciences supports the annual subscription to 16 journals. Without this gift, OSU Libraries would be challenged in keeping these titles available because of the annual costs plus inflation.
Dr. E. Anne Merryfield
In 2018, we were able to purchase two copies of a very expensive book, Raven Biology of Plants, to put on course reserves for a 300-level botany class. This fund has also allowed us to purchase other books in the areas of engineering and botany over the years.
