Professor George Mpitsos Honored in Library Exhibit

In conjunction with the HMSC Annual Marine Science Day on April 9, the Guin Library has a memorial tribute to recently-deceased Professor George Mpitsos. The library display documents Professor Mpitsos’ many scientific achievements and includes testimonials from fellow workers. Also included are caricatures of the custodial staff and other HMSC personnel that he commissioned from Ed Cameron.

People of the Pacific Northwest have deep and complicated connections with forests. The OSU Libraries and Press Special Collections and Archives Research Center explores those connections in its latest exhibit called “Heartwood: Inquiry and Engagement with Pacific Northwest Forests.”  

The exhibit is located on the fifth floor of the Valley Library in the Special Collections and Archives Gallery, and the exhibit will be on display until October. 

The exhibit represents a joint effort of the Special Collections and Archives Research Center, the US Forest Service Pacific Northwest Research Station and the Spring Creek Project for Ideas, Nature and the Written Word.
