During the pandemic, the Valley Library was limited to having two floors open, which happened to be floors on which there were only binary gendered restrooms. To help all our users feel safer and more comfortable, we shifted the main (2nd floor) gendered restrooms to be gender neutral, or gender-inclusive. Starting Fall term 2021, we are maintaining the main floor gender-inclusive restrooms. There are men’s and women’s restrooms accessible on other floors, along with a few other single user gender-inclusive restrooms on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th floors.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a gender-inclusive restroom?

A gender inclusive restroom is a restroom that any person is welcome to use. Gender-inclusive restrooms do not use gender to designate their use

Why do you offer restroom options?

In alignment with OSU's institutional values, OSU Libraries and Press strives to create programs and services that meet the needs of all of our users. Most importantly, there are also a growing number of requests from students for restroom options not designated by gender. These expanded options serve the current needs of students and other users and continue our effort to create a supportive on-campus environment.

How can I see what restrooms are on what floors?
