Kathy Varbel will retire after 38 years of service at OSU Libraries. An event will be organized later this summer to celebrate Kathy and her many years of service. In the meantime, please feel free to send Kathy congratulatory wishes.

In Kathy’s time with OSU Libraries, she’s seen many changes: moving from the 2nd floor to the 3rd floor, seeing the completion of the new library addition in 1999, the implementation of the GEAC Oasis ILS in 1989, the implementation of Millennium in 1999, and the implementation of Alma/Primo in 2014/2015 to name a few. In her time here, she’s worked with many patrons and institutions through Circulation and Interlibrary Loan services. Since joining the ILL team in 2003, Kathy’s processed over 639,266 lending requests through ILL and Rapid, all of which have passed her desk and ILL lending queues. Kathy has also been key in supporting Resource Sharing’s Scan & Deliver service, along with training students on paging requested materials, scanning, e-resource delivery, and more recently, Course Reserve scanning processes. Kathy has always been a supporter of trying new workflows and technologies and has always been diligent in documenting her workflows into the wiki (thank you Kathy!). Kathy has left a lasting impact on Resource Sharing processes here at OSU Libraries and will be greatly missed.

Congratulations Kathy on your retirement – it is well deserved!
