BennyBuy training sessions, staff lounge compost milestones, and ACRL conference news.
Cascades campus has puzzles out for dead week/finals week to help students de-stress for a minute. The in-process puzzles are left out for Spring Break, and Sarah Fay says she has fun watching all of the folks on campus tours sitting down and working on them.
Room 2013 is no longer a meeting room – the space is being transformed into an office. Look at using room 2511 if you need a meeting room on the 2nd floor.
The BennyBuy team is offering new, personalized training sessions. These are on-hour blocks on Thursdays from 10-11 a.m, in their office at the Kerr Admin Building, room A012. You can sign up for the training sessions online.
The staff lounge compost collection program officially launched on March 31, 2014 as a pilot program of the Library Employee Association. Yesterday it turned 5 years old! Approximately 10-12 volunteers each term have helped divert a total of 2689 gallons of food and food-related waste (and 424 pizza and wings boxes) away from the landfill and into the most basic kind of recycling – composting. This amount of waste is equivalent to well over 30 (!) of the large compost carts that sit outside the loading dock door. A huge thanks to OSULP and Ecampus volunteers who have staffed this program and a big round of thanks to all of you who have taken advantage of composting your food/food-related waste instead of sending it to the landfill.
ALA is looking for volunteers to assist in the ALAJobLIST placement center during ACRL 2019. If you’re going to the conference in April and interested in helping, then please contact Beatrice Calvin.

Can you guess the animal’s person?
These are the fab 4, new additions to the flock. They’re too new to be named or tamed, so these young dinosaur ancestors are roaming the yard and learning to stay clear of predators and bigger chickens.
Answers can be shared with colleagues and guessed among the office. Last, last week’s pet plant was Uta Hussong-Christian’s.
A new section for the newsletter. Thanks to the ingenuity (or inanity) of our students and the thoughtfulness of our staff to catch some things in picture form, we have a new section of the weekly newsletter. The goal here will be to guess where these things took place, or just to marvel at the going-on’s across the building.
Answers will be shared in the next edition of the newsletter. Last week’s picture was of a whiteboard on the 2nd floor.
