Most online resources provided by OSU Libraries are available for authorized off-campus users via the library's proxy service. Some resources may only work off-campus with OSU's VPN service or with the Citrix Chrome App.

Library Proxy Server

Current OSU students, faculty, and staff must enter their ONID login information and DUO authentication to access OSU Libraries' resources.

Devices that are not connected through OSU-authenticated LAN/WiFi on the Corvallis or Newport campuses must connect through the proxy service by clicking on specially formatted links. For example:

  • Starting with 1Search: If you are starting from the 1Search box on the Libraries’ website, simply click on the resource you want and you should be prompted for your login information.
  • Starting with Google Scholar: Set Google Scholar's settings to show links to OSU Libraries online subscriptions.
  • Starting with a known database: Go to A-Z Databases and search for your database by name or subject. Sign in with your ONID credentials when prompted.
  • Starting with a known journal title: Go to eJournals A-Z . Sign in with your ONID credentials when prompted.

OSU VPN

If an online resource is not working properly through the Libraries' proxy connection, OSU's VPN service can be used with a WIndows, Mac, or Linux client. Some OSU services require connecting via the VPN.

  • When accessing an online resource through the VPN,  library proxy statements must first be removed from the URL.
  • For services with OSU-specific URLs (such as Kanopy, ProQuest Ebook Central), there will be no proxy statement to remove.
  • If you are prompted in the VPN-software, select Full Tunnel for the network connection. Otherwise, switch to Full Tunnel using manual configuration.

Citrix

Another way to connect to online resources is through Citrix Apps. After logging in, open the Chrome app for a browser-in-a-browser experience.
