A goodbye, a seasonal message, and university news.
The library wishes a fond farewell to Emma Kridler, who has been with the library for only a short period of time. Despite that, she’s taken on many projects and worked to make the library a better place for patrons and fellow employees alike. She has endeared herself to all those she has worked with, and will be missed.
Loading dock services will be closed on December 25th (entire building is closed for the holiday) and on December 26th. Alice Mang is alerting our regular delivery drivers that there will be no service at the loading dock, and signage will be placed at the loading dock entrance prior to the closure. If you are expecting a delivery on December 26th and the date of delivery can’t be changed, please arrange with the delivery service to contact you directly when they deliver on that day.

Oregon State University will take written comments on its proposed University Standard 04-001 Development of University Policies and Standards through the end of business on Friday, Dec. 29. This standard updates the university’s policy program, which was established in 2014 with the dissolution of the Oregon University System. The proposed standard will enhance the vetting of policies, establish a uniform process, promote compliance, and result in clear, accessible guidance to the university community. The purpose of the comment period is to receive public feedback regarding the proposed university standard before it becomes effective Jan. 1, 2018. The proposed standard is available electronically as a pdf upon request. Comments or requests should be directed to Susan Barba at susan.barba@oregonstate.edu.
If gift wrapping is a scheduled activity in your near future, you might consider the following tips to make this aspect of gift-giving more sustainable:
· And finally, once the gifts have been opened, recycle gift wrap that cannot be reused

“I don’t think people realize how vital libraries are or what a colossal danger it would be if we were to lose any more. Having had a truncated school life myself, all of my education from the age of 17 has been self-taught. I wouldn’t be the person I am today if it wasn’t for the opportunities the library gave me.”
― Alan Moore
GUESS THAT PET
Can you guess the animal’s person?
This doggo is Coco. Coco can jump very high, and has been with her people for eight years, having been helped out by the American Brittany Rescue when she was a young pupper. She will be shy if you meet her on the street, but if you come to her house she will be your best friend.
Answers can be shared with colleagues and guessed among the office. Next week’s newsletter will have the owner’s name. Last week’s pet was Victoria Heiduschke’s catto, Sir Frances Drake.
AUL CORNER
As we look for the light to return this Thursday, we wanted to take a moment to thank all of you at OSULP for making this place bright, even in the dark and damp of an Oregon winter.
Stay cozy -
