Have a new employee joining the library? Or interested in joining the Library’s Slack channel? Then talk to your co-workers about sending you an invitation. Slack has now made it easier to handle invitations to their platform by allowing anyone to send requests. They still need to be approved by an administrator, but now anyone can invite co-workers onto the platform.
A friendly reminder – if you’re attending a conference over the next several months, please remember to contact Lise or Don with your registration details. You may have indicated what needs to happen for registration in your travel request, but there’s always extra information needed. Sometime it’s easier to bring your completed registration up to library administration on the 4th floor so they can input the pay information themselves into your computer to complete the transaction.
Oregon State is moving to Exchange Online, which means that all of our email addresses will be migrated to this cloud-based service. What does that mean? Well, your mailbox storage is going to grow 100 times larger for one. The date of the exact transition is up in the air, but Dave Manela has it well in hand and will be helping to support that transition when it happens. More information can be found on the Information Services website.
There is an on-campus summit to look at undergraduate student success coming up on March 5th. Please register if you’re interested in attending.

“I have always had a special affinity for libraries and librarians, for the most obvious reasons. I love books. (One of my first jobs was shelving books at a branch of the Chicago Public Library.) Libraries are a pillar of any society. I believe our lack of attention to funding and caring for them properly in the United States has a direct bearing on problems of literacy, productivity, and our inability to compete in today's world. Libraries are everyman's free university.”
— John Jakes
This is Fenway. Besides being a model, Fenway is a big fan of people and rats. The latter as a delicacy. He’s also allergic to himself and fish, which makes being a cat rather difficult. He enjoys long days watching cat TV, particularly his favorite channel: birds I would like to eat.
Last week’s furry friend was Luke and Leia, who live with Diana Castillo.
Do you have a favorite fuzzy friend you would like to share with the rest of the library? E-mail a picture and three important things to Don Frier.
