Then sign up to be a volunteer for the OSU Fall 2018 Move-In. Sign up through their online registration form if you’re interested. The deadline is the end of August.

The Center for Learning and Organizational Development has several employee workshops coming up in August. Get their details and register for training on their website. There is no cost for attending these workshops.
Beth Filar-Williams and Mary Markland attended the Tufte Course for Data Visualization last week, and spoke highly of it. They attended training on webdesign, looking at design and thinking principles, data analysis when the truth matters, and of course data visualization. Keep your eye out for when this course next occurs in the area, as it is definitely worthwhile training for people across the library.
Fidelity and TIAA will be on campus in the coming months to provide 1-on-1 financial consultations. The dates they’ll be available are August 7, 8, 9, September 3, 4, 5, and October 2, 3, 5. They’ll be available from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and you can make a reservation online at their website or by calling them at 1-800-732-8353.
There will be a PERS workshop on Tiers 1 & 2 coming up on August 2nd, noon to 1 p.m. in MU 212. RSVP by e-mailing investmentseminars@mapscu.com.
Science Librarian – The committee is reviewing the feedback they received following the in-person interviews, and is putting together their recommendation to the hiring official.
Metadata Librarian – The committee has identified some tentative dates in mid-September for the in-person interviews, and is working through the pool.
LT2’s in Circulation – The three positions have been posted and the committee is reviewing applicants.
LT3 in Acquisitions – The search committee will be finalized this week.
Head of Cataloging and FDLP – A PD is being developed and a committee is being identified.

Can you guess the animal’s person?
These sleepy-looking goats are Susan Storm (left) and Mr. Fantastic (right). Some interesting goat facts: goats have no top teeth (incisors) in the front of their mouth. Like puppies, goats will nibble on things in an effort to explore and figure out what they are. They are very curious animals. They also have four chambers in their stomach so they can ferment the plant matter they eat, allowing them to digest material that humans can’t.
Answers can be shared with colleagues and guessed among the office. Next week’s newsletter will have the owner’s name.
Last week I was in the “Land of the Midnight Sun”, Alaska. I spent time with family in Anchorage and Kisilof, fished in Seward and did some sight-seeing in Homer. Phone service was really spotty so I ended up not check my e-mail and did not do any work. I highly recommending taking a technology break, I feel energized and ready to tackle the amazing work we do here at OSULP again. I am sharing a few pictures with you and hope you find them as beautiful as I do.
