Library bike riders rode to 1st and 2nd place victories in the campus-wide May Bike Commute Challenge. Congratulations to Michael Boock, Hannah Rempel, and Mark Rempel for their team, and Stefanie Buck, Bryan Feyeherm, Beth Filar-Williams, Uta Hussong-Christian, Sarah Imholt, Erin Kooyman, Clara Llebot, Jane Nichols, Chris Petersen, and Scott Svadlenak on theirs.
The Zap May Bike Commute Challenge was the launch event for the ZAP bike commute rewards program on campus. Individual riders can earn the chance for cool prizes AND can track their overall bike commutes. More team challenges will be coming up in the Fall and next Spring. If you are interested in forming another library team (up to 10 riders and bonus if new bike commuters are part of the team), contact Uta.
Chris Petersen is leading an OSULP Community Interview Project. We are attempting to use oral history to build community and capture institutional knowledge about our organization. All faculty and staff working in OSULP are invited to participate as interviewees. We will also be reaching out to recent retirees as well as a selection of our current student workers. If you’re interested, please fill out this brief survey to sign up for the interviews. The interviews will require about one hour of your time and will be conducted in such a way as to minimize the anxiety that can sometimes be a part of the oral history setting.

Newport is staying busy with all of the construction going on in their backyard. Thankfully, the rain has driven the construction crews away for the time being so they can rest and relax.

Summer is nearly upon us, and I have just the short-term volunteer gig for you! If you have just one hour of time over the course of one week this summer, YOU can be a Staff Lounge Compost Volunteer. What a bargain! I know you want to help the library’s sustainability efforts and empty the Valley Library Staff Lounge compost container during Summer 2018. Through this ongoing project, we’ve reduced the waste Valley Library sends to the landfill by diverting over 2200 gallons of waste to composting since Spring of 2014!) Here’s how it works: Simply check your schedule and sign up for a week. Please respond by June 13th.
June 15 at noon – deadline for submitting FY18 foundation direct payments. If you have foundation funds that need to be expended in this FY, then they need to be submitted for processing by June 15th.
ALSO June 15 at noon – Last day to reimburse petty cash funds. Please turn in any petty cash to the cashier’s desk in Kerr by noon.

Dean Roy Haggerty of the College of Science is hosting a web viewing of the report on Sexual Harassment of Women: Climate, Culture, and Consequences in Academic Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. It’ll be on June 12th from 8-9:30 a.m. in Kidder 202. Seating is limited.

Can you guess the animal’s person?
Moon is a two-year-old black Labrador retriever, and she never seems to run out of energy. In fact, never say the word “ball” near her unless you’re ready to play. One of her many nicknames is “twinkle toes” because she lacks one of the bones in her pinky toes on her front paws and perpetually looks like she is ready for a lovely sip of tea.
Answers can be shared with colleagues and guessed among the office. Next week’s newsletter will have the owner’s name. Last week’s pupper was Anne-Marie Deitering’s dog.
