Books to schools, paper publication, and new webguides.
The Diack Ecology Education Program, a program of the Oregon Science Teachers Association, is presenting a copy of A Generous Nature to Oregon teachers who receive their education grants.
Congratulations to Michael Boock, whose sabbatical research led to the publication of the following article. It’s not quite live in the journal, but we have the Open Access version, of course, as Michael has deposited the post-print to ScholarsArchive: https://ir.library.oregonstate.edu/concern/articles/z603r450m
ETS finished the testing of Primo for the February release on OSU’s Sandbox and the report is ready to share for your comments. Because the February release is relatively light, ETS wants to take the opportunity to activate two existing features for 1Search: the auto complete and personalization for search results feature. The February release will be installed and effective on March 8th.
SCARC has a new collection guide on the Withycombe Family Collection. Thanks to Elizabeth and student assistant Maya Bergmann for their work on it. Check it out!
Need an OSU Libraries logo for a project? Logos are just one of the resources that can be found in CN-Share’s Communications and Marketing folder. There are OSU Libraries logos, Libraries and Press logos, and OSU logos, all in various color combinations and file formats to suit your particular use. There’s also a six-page summary of OSU’s brand guidelines in case you’d prefer not to read the entire 150-page OSU brand guide at https://communications.oregonstate.edu/brand-guide. If you have a question about logos or other OSU branding, contact Daniel Moret, the Marketing and Communications Manager for OSU Libraries, at daniel.moret@oregonstate.edu.
OSU is moving from hosting our own Microsoft exchange server (the thing Outlook talks to) to Exchange Online, which is hosted by Microsoft for us. This means that all of our email addresses will be migrated to this cloud-based service that promises improved reliability, usability and capacity (Mailbox storage increase from 1GB to 100 GB ). Many campus groups have already been migrated and thus far, there has been no data loss.
OSU Libraries and Press will be migrating during the week of March 23-27. You will receive an email with advance notice that includes the date your mailbox will be moved. The migration will occur during the evening hours. We are aware of some of the integrations used for calendars and other web applications and will be ensuring that those work post-migration.
Campus conversations this week touched on many things of interest to OSULP -- this week the Undergraduate Education Council discussed a bunch of things, including space, data science and teaching support and evaluation.

“Libraries are our friends.”
— Neil Gaiman
Last week’s furry friend was Fenway, who lives with Tiah Edmunson-Morton.
Do you have a favorite fuzzy friend you would like to share with the rest of the library? E-mail a picture and three important things to Don Frier.
Rodrigo Fernandez-Ortega has worked in the Teaching and Engagement Department since the start of his first year at OSU. Now a senior, Rodrigo has helped coordinate the second floor Reading Room since it opened. He also selects books for displays, and co-facilitates the Library Services Review Board, the library’s student advisory group. He is always quick to try new things, and brings a thoughtful competence to everything he does.
When asked about what he likes best about his work in the library, he said, "getting to browse through the shelves of books and learning about really interesting titles and authors. Getting to know the many librarians here has also been great!"
