Congratulations to the Oregon State’s Undergraduate Research and Writing Studio. A partnership between OSU’s Writing Center and OSU Libraries & Press, the studio’s joint implementation team was selected as the 2019 recipient of the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) Instruction Section (IS) Innovation Award. Our team (including Dennis Bennett, Chris Ervin, Uta Hussong-Christian, Jane Nichols, Hannah Rempel, and Beth Filar Williams) designed the shared space to emphasize an innovative peer education model focused delivering research and writing assistance at a student’s point of need. Read more about this wonderful achievement, supported in part by OSU’s Library Friends, at: Oregon State Receives Innovation Award. It’s a big deal because ACRL, a division of the American Library Association, is the higher education association for academic libraries and library workers in the U.S and Canada.

Room 2013 is no longer a meeting room – the space is being transformed into an office. Look at using room 2511 if you need a meeting room on the 2nd floor.

“Libraries really are wonderful. They're better than bookshops, even. I mean bookshops make a profit on selling you books, but libraries just sit there lending you books quietly out of the goodness of their hearts.”

A new section for the newsletter. Thanks to the ingenuity (or inanity) of our students and the thoughtfulness of our staff to catch some things in picture form, we have a new section of the weekly newsletter. The goal here will be to guess where these things took place, or just to marvel at the going-on’s across the building.
Answers will be shared in the next edition of the newsletter. Last week’s picture was of a whiteboard on the 1st floor.
