Project of the year, new impact report, and updates at Guin library.
The Finley/Bohlman digitization project undertaken in 2016-17 by SCARC and the Oregon Historical Society is the winner of the State Library's inaugural LSTA Project of the Year Award!
The project will be honored at the opening reception of the Finley/Bohlman Catching Birds with a Camera exhibit on February 22.
The new impact report for the Libraries and Press is now available online. We know that the Libraries and Press do a wide array of amazing stuff, and an Impact Report is compiled each year that offers highlights of the work that we do and summarizes the amazing accomplishments of the previous year.
In addition to scintillating facts and figures and an overview of some of the many accomplishments of Libraries and Press faculty and staff, there’s also some cool quotes about libraries. Here’s one:

See art and science collide when Jorge Cham, the creator of PHD Comics, shares his humorous and thought-provoking perspectives on closing the scientific communications gap. Join the College of Engineering for Jorge Cham’s talk called “The Science Gap” on Feb. 8 at 9 a.m. at the LaSells Stewart Center.
The circ desk detritus in Guin has been removed! Electrical work is supposed to happen next week so we can get the circ computer back up and running normally. We were able to relocate the self-checkout machine so it’s usable. Mary is anxiously waiting for notification of when the new furniture will arrive. There is a big donor reception in Guin library on March 15th (MSI Building groundbreaking). It will be a good test of our expanded floor space.
This week starts the first series of the Library and Press’ strategic planning meetings. Each department is signed up for a meeting, with the list below. Please take a look at the information that Kerri e-mailed out prior to the meeting, and sign up for the open sessions here.

Check out the new exhibit “Community, Collaboration, Craft: A Glimpse of Art at OSU” at the OSU Special Collections and Archives Special Center Gallery on the 5th floor of the Valley Library. Discover what puppet noses, danceramics, and wood marquetry have in common in this celebration of artistic inspiration on campus. On display until May 31st.

Are you a new faculty or staff members at OSU? If so, Please join the Office of Institutional Diversity in a professional networking event in the Portland Area. The event is called Say Hey and will be held at Portland State University on February 20, 2018 from 5:30-8:00pm in the Karl Miller Center Atrium. The Say Hey event is an opportunity for new professionals who have recently relocated to Oregon and Southwest Washington to connect and deepen their engagement with our region’s multicultural community. Through this program, faculty and staff at Oregon State University will have an opportunity to make connections with other professionals throughout the state, explore possible synergies, and discover community linkages that advance professional and personal goals. The program is free and the Office of Institutional Diversity will provide group transportation.

Monograph Acquisitions LT3 – The postings have closed and the committee is working on their interviews. There are 17 applicants.
Science Librarian – The PD has been finalized, and the committee is working with Library Administration to get the position posted.

Lilly the pup, aka Lilly 3 fingers, is an excellent soccer player. If you want to get on her good side, then just give her a carrot.
