Big grants, carbon offsets, and Zoom training
Congratulations to Margaret Mellinger, head of Emerging Technologies. She and her co-PI, Franny Gaede of the University of Oregon Libraries, were notified this week that they are the successful recipients of a $203,508 IMLS National Leadership Grant. This grant will support the development of a suite of analytics and reporting tools for Hyrax. Hyrax is the open source, Samvera-powered repository front end for Oregon Digital, our well-established collaborative project to co-develop and maintain a digital asset management system. No task happens in a vacumn, and Margaret and Franny have been helped by the entirety of the Oregon Digital team: Steve Van Tuyl, Josh Gum, Ryan Wick, Kenna Warsinske, Ray Henry, Linda Sato, and Jeremy Echols.
Uta organized a panel on Carbon offsets at ALA, and now the ALA Executive Board is talking about including carbon offsets purchases as being added to ALA registration.

Can you guess whose pet this is?
This is Peeps. Peeps lives with one of our library student employees and her brother. Last week’s animal companion, Remus, lives with Bridgette Garcia.
Last week’s picture was a dry-erase board in the Autzen classroom. No new pictures for this week, unfortunately.
